Do you like collecting antiques? This one definitely belongs to be a part of your collection. The Titanic locker key will definitely add another star to your collection.
A corroded iron key to a locker on the Titanic has been out to sell at an auction. Can you guess the opening amount? The money for the auction opening has been kept high for $104,000. Are you shocked?
This locker key belongs to a Sidney Sedunary. He is a 23-year-old boy and the ship’s steward. When I came to know about him, the first question that came to my mind was how did this boy get this key?
This boy was actually one of the 1,500 people who died when the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank during its maiden voyage from England to New York. After the mishap, when recovered objects were sent to the late passenger’s home, the key attached to a brass tag stamped was sent to Sedunary’s pregnant widow.
The key stamped ‘Locker 14 F Deck’ was the last think Sedunary’s wife received from his husband’s side.
The auction to be held on this Saturday is expected to fetch 50,000 pounds. The sale has been organised by Henry Aldridge & Son in Devizes, western England. Prices for the Titanic artefacts have soared in the recent years. Three years back when a violin which was believed to be played at the doomed vessel was sold for more than a million pounds.
