The Boyard fort located in the Atlantic Ocean between the Île-d’Aix and the Île d’Oléron. The fort is presently used as a film set for a TV series. Construction work for this fort was supposed to start in the 17th century, but work only began after Napoleon Bonaparte gave his orders in the 1800s. Today, Napolean’s fort stoods as a show and nothing more.

Fort Boyard is an oval shaped fort standing with a height of 68 metres and a width of 31 m. The walls surrounding the fort stand at 20 m in height. The ground floors of the fort provide stores and quarters for officers.
