All the electric trains in Netherlands re now powered by wind energy, announced Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the Dutch Railways.
Two years ago Dutch electricity company Eneco was offered a tender by NS and the two companies signed a 10-year deal setting January 2018 as the date by which all NS trains should run on wind energy.
So in fact they reached their goal one year earlier than the given time.
“So we in fact reached our goal a year earlier than planned,” said NS spokesman, Ton Boon. “Since 1 January, 100% of our trains are running on wind energy,” added Boon.
